Swamp and Wetlands

Many of these photos were taken during bird surveys I carried out for the County Administrative Board of Kalmar to count breeding shorebirds in their key habitats on Öland. Several of these species have declining and threatened populations. Some species, however, do not breed on Öland. Instead, they pass by each year on their long journey between the northern breeding grounds and the southern wintering areas.
